Class Information

*  Read all the information on each page to meet my team.  Then,  SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE TO REGISTER.

  • All lessons consist of five class sessions over one week (Monday-Friday). Each class is one hour long, with 8-12 students led by 2-4 instructions (depending on class size).
  • Lessons are at Leah’s home at 144 Woodstone Drive, Hattiesburg, MS 39402.
  • Our pool is heated to 85 degrees for lessons, which helps relax the students and parents who participate with the younger children. Our pool is also “beach entry,” meaning that children can stand up in the shallow end, making it easier for them to practice with instructors and parents.
  • ONE parent or other person is REQUIRED to participate in lessons with children age three and younger, meaning you must be in the pool with your child. You do not need to swim yourself as you will be able to stand up in the pool. One adult is allowed per student.
  • Parents/guardians are not allowed to participate with children age four and older. If your child is age four or older, you will drop them off for their class time and return after one hour to pick up your child after lessons.

Class Types

We have two class types based on the child’s age. Class types are based solely on age notability. We will access the students on the first day, and each child’s lessons will be tailored to their ability to swim.

Children Ages Three & Younger Class: One person is REQUIRED to participate with the student for all five class sessions. The reason for this rule is so that you can reinforce concepts from class after lessons are over as your child continues swimming and practicing through the summer. I will teach you how to continue to work with your child, and you will be amazed by the end of the summer. Please read the “About Leah” section to understand my thought process on this.

Children Ages Four & Older Class: In the past, we allowed parents to participate in lessons with children of all ages. Over the 20+ years I’ve spent teaching swimming lessons, I’ve learned that older children do better and pick up skills faster in classes when parents are not present. For this reason, if your child is age four or older, parents are not allowed to stay on-site and watch lessons Monday-Thursday. On Friday, the final day of classes, you are welcome to bring whomever you want to watch lessons so your child can show you everything they’ve learned over the week.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions

Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, we may take the temperature of every student and parent/guardian who participates in lessons upon entry. If you or your child has a fever, you will need to leave and reschedule classes for the safety of the other students.

On Friday, the final day of lessons, when family/friends are welcome to watch children, we ask that you, please, respectfully practice social distancing for the safety of everyone attending.

Price of Lessons

The cost of lessons is $250 per child for ALL ages. Payment is due on TUESDAY (the second day) of the week of classes. Payments are CASH ONLY. We will not accept any checks as we have had issues with checks bouncing in the past. We will only accept cash for payment.

Make-Up Lessons

Lessons will only be canceled due to inclement weather if there is thunder/lightning at our location. Again, the pool is heated, so if we experience light rain with no thunder/lightning, we turn up the temperature to ensure everyone is comfortable and continue lessons. If we cancel a class, make-up lessons will take place on SATURDAY that week at the same scheduled class time.

Cancelation Policy

Please send me an email ASAP to let me know if you need to cancel. Every year, classes fill up, and we have to start a waitlist. Please respect those parents who are on the waitlist and want lessons for their children by letting us know ahead of time that you need to cancel because someone else is waiting for your spot.

Please let us know if you cannot attend the class after you sign up. We are happy to reschedule your child’s lesson based on availability.

Parking

Please do not park in front of mailboxes or on our neighbors’ lawns! We have a large driveway and front yard, big enough for everyone to find a place to park their vehicle. You can also park in front of a green space/wooded lot before my house.

Have More Questions?

Please email Mrs. Leah at leah@thaggardswimlessons.com if you have any additional questions. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you and your children at lessons!
